The PM Will Go to Register for the General Election on 20 October

PHNOM PENH: During the graduation ceremony for more than 6,000 students of the National University of Management on Monday morning, 17 October 2022, the Prime Minister of Cambodia confirmed that he will once again go to register to vote at the Teacher Training College in Kandal province on 20 October 2022, because he changed his date of birth from 4 April 1951 to 5 August 1952.

In previous parliamentary elections, the Prime Minister's date of birth was listed as 4 April 1951 on the voter list, however, this year he changed his date of birth to 5 August 1952 so he must register again.

Prime Minister Hun Sen also called on members of the public who have not yet registered to hurry up and do so in order to prepare for the 2023 General Election scheduled to take place on 23 July 2023.

The National Election Committee (NEC) has set 20 October to 8 December 2022 as the time for citizens to verify their details on the official voter list and register to vote if they have not already done so.

"If we do not register to vote again, we can wrongly lose the right to vote, and it will be difficult [to remedy]," said the Prime Minister. "Therefore, people who have not yet registered to vote, and young people of voting age should go and register to vote."
